Contribution by corpo two to the new handbook on the refurbishment and modernisation of existing properties
The refurbishment and modernisation of existing properties begins long before the actual planning stage – with a thorough analysis of the property’s current condition.
We are therefore all the more delighted that our managing directors, Yann Hervé and Marco Ossmann, have contributed as authors to the new handbook *Renovation and Modernisation of Existing Properties* by Dr Oliver Koos. The first edition of this specialist publication was published by C.H.Beck on 23rd June 2026.
In their contribution, they examine two key topics which, from corpo two’s perspective, are crucial to the success of projects involving existing buildings:
- Condition analysis and definition of renovation requirements
The focus is on the thorough assessment and evaluation of existing buildings, typical challenges in determining the current condition, and the impact of inadequate condition analyses on further planning. - Planning for existing buildings
The specific requirements of planning for existing buildings are explained from the perspective of a lead planner. The focus is on both building design (Marco Ossmann) and building services engineering (Yann Hervé).
Existing properties in particular demonstrate just how important a robust data foundation is for realistic concepts, well-informed decisions and successful project implementation.
